VPN not Working

Okay, so look. Let's say i'm in a theoretical non physically existing school where i'm at lunch and wanna get on Snapchat, Instagram, and what not. I use any VPN app on the store, and it works. One day it stops working, so I switch phones, again theoretically, in fear they blocked my mac address. The thing is, the VPN works on all the other theoretical kids's phones, except mine.. What's going on? Again, I'm not actually at school doing this, this would be a clear violation of rules and I would never do that, this post is just because of curiosity. I would like to additionally I was on a LG G4 and now a Galaxy S7 Edge. The exact same VPN app works on my theoretical friend's phones and on the non physically existing chromebooks.. Any clue why my VPN never works?
