would i get better fps in games if i where to only buy a new gpu and nothing else new. and if so any gpu i could upgrade to

Yes.  Everything from a 750TI to a 1060 6GB would be a good upgrade for that system.

Make that a 960.  I always forget the 670 was the beast of the 600 series and is better than a 750ti...
