I would personally get a B350 motherboard. It will allow you to overclock your CPU cores as well as iGPU for better gaming performance. Also, what are you doing for storage?

I have a brand new 1tb hard drive

Sounds fine to start with. An SSD will improve loading times and general system responsiveness, however it isn't 100% necessary.

This will be my first pc build and this ryzen 3 will do everything I want it to do. I've heard people had trouble with bios updates and the pc not posting but I just want to see if this build is good enough and can work.

You always want a B350 motherboard, namely the Pro 4

and yes you might need a BIOS update, you could ask newegg live chat before buying it or something to confirm.

So people are saying that you cannot adjust the gpu memory since it defaults to 64mbs and I need it to be 2gb since I will not be able to get a graphics card until they become cheaper later on.

That setting doesn't matter at all because it will just use whatever memory it needs, but ya, be sure to get a decent B350 motherboard in any event.
