Ready Player One and Graphics Cards

So I was reading this

And in my head, one thing lead to another, and now I'm wondering if the release of Rp1, which premieres on March 29, might make Nvidia release the next generation gtx on GTC, which ends on March 29.

 

Any ideas?

Nope. And even the claim made in the article is speculative in the extreme.

The correlation is there, but I just don't see the average Joe shelling out the money for that much hardware especially at the current state of the GPU market.

Problem is a lot of corps today don't target "the average Joe". They want the whales.

True, I guess the saying "if you build (sell) it, they will come (buy)" still holds. I still don't think Nvidia will release a new card just for RP1; it's too early and they are still sitting pretty at the top. I can see them officially announcing a new GPU, but we'll just have to wait and see.
