RAM compatibility

ok, im about to upgrade my cpu to a i7 8700k and was looking at rgb ram, ive came across trident z rgb 3200mhz, but im wondering if its compatible with the i7 8700k even though on intel's website it states its memory type is 2666mhz, and if it is compatible would the ram run at 2666mhz or could i push it to its 3200mhz? Also the mobo i would be using is the ROG STRIX Z370-E

It'd have about a 99.9% chance to work at 3200mhz.

AFAIK, it will work but run at a lower speed.
