I currently use an old Alienware x51 r2 (i5 3330, gtx 645, 8gb ram, 330w chord power supply), and I want to upgrade somehow. I was thinking of salvaging all the parts and putting them in a new case with a new motherboard and power supply and then go on to upgrade the cpu or the gpu. My main focus right now is upgrading the CPU since graphics card prices are so damn high because of the miners. I just need some suggestions, etc.

Thanks

Agreed, maybe hunt around for a good deal on a used GTX 970 on Craigslist as well. Another 8Gb memory can't hurt either.

you can upgrade the following:

CPU
Memory
GPU
add an SSD

replace the PSU if you need to upgrade to a new

GPU

and if your system uses regular matx or atx motherboard you can even swap cases

just double check to see if alienware uses proprietary connections for its power buttons
