My partner and I are getting a house together and we want both our PC's to be on the same desk, so we can game next to each other. (or maybe across the desk, we're not sure yet)

However, we do spend quite some time in calls with friends and we also stream at times. We are currently using headset mics (a HyperX Cloud for her and a V-MODA BoomPro mic for me), but we want to work towards getting something that isn't attached to our heads. The problem is that we will have two mics relatively close together and we don't want our them to pick up each other's conversations.

I don't know a lot about microphones, so I would like to ask for advice here.

What setup would you recommend for our situation?

- Mics will be only a few meters apart.

- Shouldn't pick up background noise (I did not mean to call my partner background noise, but you get the idea).

- XLR would be nice, but not a requirement.

- Improved sound quality over our current mics

- We'll keep using our headsets for now, so we have time to save up. So budget is not too much of a problem.
