I need help deciding on shotgun mic.

I need a shotgun mic. I was deciding between The Røde NTG4+ paired with the Zoom-H5 but I hear good things about the Sennheiser MKE 600. Any input would be great.

The alternative would be the Shure VP82.

 

To be honest between the two there should be very little difference and it would depend on what you're planning on recording. The sennheiser has a switchable low-cut while the shure has a non-switchable low cut filter built in. So if you need the sub 150hz especially then the Sennheiser would be the choice. Otherwise the Shure would be my go to as it is sightly cheaper (and I trust their build quality over sennheiser's).

 

The NTG4+ isn't actually a shotgun mic, rather a super-cardioid so has a much wider pick up than either the MKE600 or VP82.
