I've got a laptop, namely G752VS, which its storage layout is 2x PCIe SSD and 1x SATA3

It came with 250GB, one stick, so I bought another to match it, now I have 500GB worth of SSD which is all I need for my games and stuff.

However my Data drive is getting full. It's only a 1TB. I cannot find any HDD that's over 1TB with a 7200RPM other than the FireCuda by Seagate, however that drive's a SHDD Hybrid..

So what would happen if I used the Hybrid?

Or does anyone know a 2.5" 7200 2TB drive under 10mm?

Pretty sure the 2.5in models are also 5400rpm (Disclaimer, I have this model).

There are 7200RPM WD Blacks in 2.5"

Though I don't know if the rotation speed matters as much in 2.5". I mean, sure, every bit of performance counts, but the smaller disk makes up for the loss in rotational speed.

Oh I didn't mean they didn't exist, but that Seagate's model should also be 5400rpm

If your just storing data you don't need 7200 rpm's. 5400 is faster enough for storage and it will also be quieter.

SSHD are not worth the extra money, I had one from seagate and it failed after a month.

Current Build: Project Frost
Gaming Rig Build: Project Ice Dragon

I run stuff from my Data Drive also, which is why I wanted 7200RPM, especially for 1080p movies into VLC and stuff.

Anyhow, I'm not looking for alternatives, I'm looking for a 2TB 7200 2.5" HDD, or an explanation whether the FireCuda is fine to use for the purpose (given it's an SHDD)

I god damn hate Seagate, myself. Kind of want a WD, or a HGST, but I can't find anything in 2TB.

I have the 2TB Firecuda and so far its worked fine for me (Most games, videos, and music are saved there). Any tests you would like done?

5400rpm is plenty for 1080p movies and even 4K movies. I use 5400rpm drives for storage and playback. Never had an issue with using those kind of drives. I just bought another Western Digital Blue 6TB (5400rpm) drive to add to my storage setup.

------

Western Digital Blue SSHD:

They only come in 1TB or 4TB.

I don't think Western Digital sell them anymore,  Since they didn't sell well.

As for the FireCuda, it will work fine on a desktop PC, even NAS drives can work as a single drive on a desktop. One thing you should know is the FireCuda has a power down feature there similar to Western Digital Green drives that Western Digital Phased out.

Not sure if you mean you can't find any drive with SSHD or just basic 7200 rpm.

They were having difficulties finding one in a 2.5in form factor.
