Basic HTPC build

Looking for parts recommendation for a custom built HTPC, only going to be used for 1080p content. Priced somewhere between 400-550 USD.

Do you have any spare components lying around? Motherboards in-particular? If you have a motherboard lying around, you can generally get the other components pretty cheap used and build an HTPC pretty cheap.

A used i3 is normally perfect for an HTPC and if you have a board of an older gen, they can be super cheap. Something like an i3 3220 can be had for £30.

Still, if you want to buy new, we can give some parts lists, though we will need some more information, like the form factor and whether you're storing media on the HTPC or if it's being streamed or stored on a server.

No, this would be a completely new build.

I don't play any games. This would be in the United States. I would only need peripherals. The monitor and OS don't need to be factored in.
