External HDD

I am unable to access my External HDD when plugged into my laptop or desktop. 

It is on drive H:/. Whenever I click it it says it is not accessible or takes forever to load and never load.

 

Suggestions?

1) Check the cable. Try using another one

2) Check the drive (indication of being dropped and what not)

3) If you are comfortable, Try to pry open your external and make sure all connectors are well... connected. =))

I want to try to make sure I can get it working before opening... 

The cable works; The drive is spinning (can feel it).

When I plug the HDD into the computer the HDD's "Virtual CD" partition is recognized, but will not allow me to open it.

GO to disk manager.  Check to see if the thing is detected there. 

then go DL a disk checker program and check for bad sectors.

 

External drives are usually blue drives which are prone to Bad sectors

They're aren't showing up in disk manager:/

Go do the second thing check if it have bad sectors.
