Thanks for you advice.

The only reason I had picked the i5 - 8600k was to future proof the system and allow for it to be overclocked considering a Z370 board is the only choice right now.

From a graphics card perspective I will holding off on that until the prices stabilise but i will look into the 1060.

Is there any particular reason why you changed the cooler or was it just down to price?

  1. You don't need a overclockable i5 chip for your specific tasks future proof is garbage it's NOT worth future proofing a CPU right now
  2. The GTX 1060 3GB overperforms the GTX 1050TI in 45% more FPS
  3. The Cooler overperform due the higher price and the TDP of the lowered locked i5

Thanks for your response Redicat, I will have a better look at your suggested changes.

Thanks for clarifying your changes.

With a few minor adjustments it is possible to get 16GB of memory for roughly the same cost.

I believe the H7 is a slightly better cpu cooler than the Shadow Rock Slim.

An NVMe drive is nice, but the cost is better spent elsewhere. The higher performance of NVMe would not really be noticeable in most work.

Little point in getting a WD Black for a data drive.

Corsair's TXM psu are very good and less expensive than the RMX.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look at swapping out the WD drive for the Seagate Barracuda drive since its around half the price.

I was planning on installing additional RAM in the future but i will look at getting a 16GB kit since everyone has suggested it. The prices just seem to be too high at the moment.
