Hello everyone.

I just recently started an apprenticeship at an IT support company and a huge part of the work they do goes down in the active directory.

Now I got this position for my knowledge of hardware and troubleshooting but the active directory is completely new to me.

So here is my question, does anyone here know a place on the internet that has a guide or an intro to the active directory that is not painstakingly drawn out and text-based.

I learn through practice and by doing so a guide that has me try and do stuff while learning to understand would be amazing.

All I've been able to find so far are definition guides that tell me what something does but they don't teach how everything interacts and what works with what in practice.

So please help.

Thank you

Robert

Learning the basics of Active Directory was primarily trial any error for me. I was given access to a Windows Server 2012 VM and a few old Dell desktops and messed with settings until I broke something. When I couldn't figure out how to use specific functions, I went to Microsoft Virtual Academy. The videos are drawn out, but they are incredibly informative. The guy I worked with said that the Windows Server 2012 guides on Lynda were pretty solid too, but it was a bit out of my price range at the time.
