Mouse driver gone?

Snioutic

So my dad asked me the other day to fix has computer and explained to me that his mouse is not working. The mouse doesn't respond to the computer. So i looked up the device manager, it presented with some devices that had their drivers not working or not updated(aka other devices). Except the keyboard, the keyboard worked perfectly fine. Updating them did not work nor uninstalling and restarting the computer did. I downloaded Microsoft's simple keyboard and mouse driver, it didn't detect any devices. I tried doing shift-restart and to do a system restore, the mouse was working when executed but after a day the computer forgot the existence of a mouse again. Only thing i haven't tried is a fresh windows reinstall, i do not think i am able to do this due to my mom's iPhone backed up onto the computer. I did check that Microsoft has a hid compliant driver in the window's update history, but upon looking further more into it there was not information about it.

If there are any answers out there it would be helpful.

Thank You.
