I'm looking to upgrade my ram from 8 gb to 16 gbs by adding 2 more 4 gb sticks of ram. The ram I currently have is ddr3, Adata's XPG V2@ 1600 mhz. My ram's heat spreader is gold colored, but the only thing I could find online was grey XPG V2 @ 1600. As far as I can tell, its the same ram aside from the color.

It should be the same right? Is there any way to be sure? Are there any other specs I have to make sure are the same?

I've read that if the timings or anything is slightly different, it can cause problems or simply not work at all.

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x,  MOBO: ASUS TUF X570 Gaming Pro wifi, CPU cooler: Noctua U12a RAM: Gskill Ripjaws V @3600mhz,  GPU: Asus Tuf RTX OC 3080 PSU: Seasonic Focus GX850 CASE: Lian Li Lancool 2 Mesh Storage: 500 GB Inland Premium M.2,  Sandisk Ultra Plus II 256 GB & 120 GB

Sounds like it is the same ram but even if it isn't I wouldn't worry too much especially when buying in pairs.

Try searching on your Motherboards QVL. You may find them there, if not, try the RAM manufacturer webpage, maybe you can fin data about compatibility with your motherboard.

To be honest, i started a topic today about my (good) luck mixing brand, speed and timing RAM kits. Your milage may vary. If you believe you could send them back and getting back your money, give it a try.
