Check my build, constructive criticism is respected and wanted

10/10 Have fun building. But if you want to you can upgrade to the 8700k. No biggie though if you're just gaming.

You're going for the high-end stuff on everything but the drives. Buy a 500GB Samsung 960 EVO and a 1TB WD Black. The performance on the WD Black is WAY better than the Blue.

Gaming Desktop: ASRock Phantom Gaming X, R9-3900x, 64GB RAM, 1.5TB SSD

NAS Box: Gigabyte Z97, i5-4690, 32GB RAM, 22TB, 1TB SSD Cache.

Might start youtube, but I don't see reason for the 8700k.

Personally me neither, I just feel like people freak when you don't have one in a $2500 build. But hell I would prefer the 8600k over a 8700k.

You could even upgrade to the 8700k, buy a few 2TB WD Reds, and turn your system into an Unraid NAS + Gaming Box.

See here:

NAS Box: Gigabyte Z97, i5-4690, 32GB RAM, 22TB, 1TB SSD Cache.

i'd cut down on a few components for an 8700k, and why are you pairing a 1080ti with a 60hz monitor?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Can't buy a 600$ monitor, going to game on the 1080p for only several months and then get a 1440p monitor. For the long run I prefer it.

Oh yeah, totally. But I've found that 500GB allows you to not have to manage your games quite as harshly as the 250GB, but to each their own. The 960 EVO is pretty top-tier for consumer stuff.

144 Hz monitors aren't that bad...

Last I checked, that wasn't even a thing.

Otherwise my GTX 780 would be taking a huge toll by my time folding, watching YouTube, and doing normal computer things instead of gaming.

The only task that really takes a toll on a GPU is mining, and even that doesn't hurt a GPU that much if the miner is careful.

The black is rumored to have better endurance (can't find hard specs on that in my 5 minutes of googling), and has a 5 year warranty.

Go for the 2TB Black. Green sucks so hard and blue isn't amazing, but the value for a 1tb is pretty good...
