About a month ago, I noticed that I would get stutters while doing anything, playing games, watching videos, or even moving the mouse really quickly. The stutters are regular and very short but noticeable. However, this only occurs after my system has been on for about a day. This problem does not exist after a fresh boot. Things I have tried:

  • Switching PCI-E slots (first and second slots)
  • Cleaning the contacts on the card and slots
  • Switching PCI-E BIOS config from Auto to Gen 3 x16

I looked at MSI Afterburner and noticed that my GPU Power % and GPU Usage % would drop at regular intervals but I have no idea why. I've attached screenshots. 'half.png' (top screenshot) shows me watching a YouTube video for the first half until the first big spike. The first big spike is loading PUBG, the short lull is the match loading screen, and afterwards is gameplay. 'reboot.png' (second screenshot) is after I have rebooted my PC and all of it is playing PUBG. The two dips at the end are loading back into lobby and exiting the game. I'm open to ideas and suggestions.

This happened to me, I fixed it by sliding the power limit all the way to the right (+20).

How long ago did this happen to you and have you seen any bad things happen as a result?

I think it happened a few months ago (before Thanksgiving I believe). Nothing bad has happened.

You've tried reinstalling GPU drivers, right?

Was hoping I didn't have to but I'll give it a shot

It's not hard. Boot into safe mode, and use DDU. Then just find the correct driver's on Nvidia or AMD's website, and download them.

Alrighty, I'll keep you posted. Thanks so much for all of the help! Would the next step be to reinstall Windows?

If that doesn't fix it (the driver and Windows), contact your GPU manufacturer.
