Failed windows 8.1 update

Hi I have some issues with my laptop after updating to win8.1.

So yesterday I tried to update once but it failed so I tried it again but the same results but now when I boot up it goes to recovery and when I click restore it goes to a black screen with the acer logo with nothing else. Tried rebooting but same thing so I just left it there hoping for windows to restore but it's been half an hour.

Any ideas ? :/

What's the processor? May lack some instructions if you're using a 64-bit version.

I5 3317u

6gb ram

500gb hardisk

Win8 64bit preinstalled

should I just go and get an win8 disc to do recovery?

Nah, your cpu is fine. You could try reformatting and doing a fresh install. Always a good thing to backup before downgrading or upgrading your OS. I'm not sure if a W8 recovery disc would help if it has system files from W8.1 mixed in there.

It's probably flashed into your BIOS. I think that's how they are done these days. That, or underneath your laptop.
