Upgrade from a pre-built

Hey I have a pre-built computer from best-buy and now I'm going to upgrade it so I can actually run games on. Here is the old computer.

 

Operating System-

Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit

CPU-

Intel Core i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz 42 °C

Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology

RAM-

16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 807MHz (11-11-11-28)

Motherboard-

ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. CM6330_CM6630_CM6730_CM6830_M11AA (LGA1155) 39 °C

Graphics-

2048MB GeForce GT 630 (ASUStek Computer Inc) 37 °C

Hard Drives-

932GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-22RKKA0 (SATA) 39 °C

Optical Drives-

ATAPI DVD A DH24ACSH ATA Device

Audio-

Realtek High Definition Audio

I had the Zalman Z11 and wouldn't recommend it since the fans are loud and it is really hard taking the front cover off and the case is really ugly in person

But you probably want it with fancy lights to look like a gaming PC lol

your cpu is locked(non K) so a z68/z77 mobo is useless.keep the one you have. just get a power supply and a r9 280X and you are fine for a long time.couse you see,its the gpu that is weak in your pc

 

i reccommend rosewill capstone 550M .the hive is not bad but its really miles apart from the capstone in performance and stability.also its 80+ gold and just a few bucks more than hive.550W is more than you will ever need for single gpu

Would you recommend a 770 or a 280x instead of the 270x? Either way which brand would you recommend?

yes i would couse i see you have the budget. and brand? gigabyte windforce,msi gaming twin frozr and asus directCU2. flip a coin

then later add a SSD

you are making a HUGE downgrade on the cpu.the i7 3770 wipes the floor with the fx 6300. you just need a psu and a gpu. thats it

Oh sorry that was the wrong list that was one a friend sent me. My bad. ya Im getting the haf 922, a 270x gigabyte, and a corsair CX 600
