water pump connection

hi guy for the water pump i seen in some video there is a molex and PWM connector.So i can either connect one of them right? But ekwb told be saying that if a pump have both connector(PWM and molex)  i must plug both in so that is will fully work is this true i am confused

Molex is for power, PWM is for monitoring and PWM control. 

 

You don't need both, you just need Molex, but for it to work best you want both connected.

very true, you always need the Molex connector. tough for some models you do need the PWM also, as otherwise the pump will only run at the slowest possible speed.

Some pumps (like the one I have from EK) will run at about 60% speed when powered without a PWM signal.

It's useful for filling the loop but I wouldn't want it to run that fast all the time. It's a bit noisy at that speed.

 

So, OP, you're going to want to connect the PWM plug for the pump into the motherboard's CPU fan-header, for both ease of use and safety.

Only need molex. pwm is to control speed or else it will be at 100%
