Hey guys,

All the prices are taken from amazon, newegg, ncix and canada computers.

My main piece of advice would be to drop from a 3770K to a 3570k and upgrade the graphics card to something more gaming worthy.

Actually since he will be doing video editing and etc, the 3770k will perform better with those applications since it has hyperthreading

But I do agree that getting a better gpu will greatly improve gaming performance, go amd for better driver optimization and game bundles

and since you have room in your budget, consider going crossfire for even better gaming performance

You don't need that expensive of a motherboard since you won't even know let alone use half the features it has, something like the asrock extreme 4 will be just fine

For video editing, you should get at least 16gb of ram but don't bother with more than 1600mhz as it just isn't worth it

Don't buy caviars especially black because the small performance isnt worth it, instead go barracuda 1tb or 1.5tb

You really don't need such a premium psu, a 550W will be enough to power a single gpu system (650 for crossfire if you wanted)

As for the case, I like the 650D but that is just a personal taste preference

But if you wanted a bit more savings, you could get the 8350 but do not buy a ROG board as it is just wasted money on wasted potential

3770k, Asrock Extreme 4, 16GB Dominator Plat, AX760i, 250GB BX100, 1.5TB Seagate, Win 7 Home Prem
