Mix and Match Different RAM Sticks

As the title says. Mixing and matching ram sticks.

 

I have an AsRock Z77 Pro 3 motherboard and I already have a Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB 1600MHz CL9 1.5V stick

 

Can I get another ram with the same specs but a different brand?

 

Can I also get a 4GB stick from a different brand but have the same specs?

Technically you can if all the specs are the same, but it's not recommended.

You might run into stability issues, specially if overclocking, or worst case scenario your system won't boot.

Yes, you can do it. That works usually, but you can run into compatibilty issues.

What about getting the same brand and same specs? Will it have no problems?

You should get same specs for maximum compatibility, but if its possible get the same stick.
