motherboard audio issue

my motherboard audio is constantly skipping. (mobo model in signature)

 

however, my hdmi audio via my gtx 1050 is fine... does anyone else have this issue?

Just use your video card audio or get a USB sound adapter

Tried a different driver?

 

Also if its skipping in video it could be a corrupt codec.

If you really think it is an driver issue, the audio chip name (Realtek® ALC887 codec; see here) is the correct bit of information. The motherboard model is irrelevant as such (there are hundreds of motherboards but less audio chips / HW out there).

it's skipping in both spotify and youtube in chrome.

Im wondering whether something running in the background is causing this taking up system resources.

 

Have u tried disabling your antivirus for a minute just to see if it makes a difference?

it's on Linux, so no antivirus. 

 

and cpu usage is about 6% when it skips.

Then its a driver or codec issue.
