So I have an Asus strix GTX 1070 and it's performed really well (even under 100% load it stay below 70 degrees) but I've noticed it sagging a bit and I wanted to fix it, so I took a pop figure I have and put it under the card (luckily it was the right height and it brought the card to being level) but once I started a stress test the temps immediately shot up to 80+ degrees. So I stopped the stress test and thought to myself "maybe it interrupted airflow?" So I restarted the stress test and then gently lifted the card from the corner until it was level again and the temps still shot up with no possible airflow interruptions. What could be causing these spikes? I want to try to keep my card from sagging but how can I do that without these temperature spikes?

just out of curiousity, unplug the card and hold it firm. with your other hand see if theres and play in the fans. or a gap.

when lifting the cards up are the fans still working ?

also make sure there seated properly.

if your motherboard allows maybe try a different PCIE and test temps again.

could also be a failing PCIE slot when shifting the card its shorting sending more voltage to the card.

Yes the fans still work while it is being lifted, I don't think my motherboard (Asus Maximus IX Hero) will allow me to use a different pcie slot as far as I know it can only work either 16x or 8x 8x with two cards. I'll still try to switch the slots at some point tomorrow
