Windows not using all the memory

DeadCrusade
Go to solution Solved by Walt,

Plug 1 stick ram in and check if it boots if not there is an hardware issue if it boots normally do the same with the other stick and see if it boots then.

I looked up if anyone else had this issue and i couldn't find anything.

My build:
OS: Windows 7 64bit professional

Motherboard: Asus A55bm-k (bios verson 702)

Cpu: AMD Athlon x4 880k

RAM 2x4GB of Hyper X 1866mhz

Alright so today I cleaned my pc and after assembling everything together I can only use 3.94GB out of 8GB that is in the motherboard other ram stick get's seen in BIOS but in total amount of memory it still said "4GB" and in task manager only said "Physical Memory, Total: 4039mb"

as of now I ran out of options so if someone had this issue before, could possibly guide me to the answer and an eventual fix? :)

Things I did so far:

Re-seated DIMMs multiple times

Re-seated the CPU once (forgot to buy more thermal paste)

Changed the order of ram sticks to see if maybe the DIMM slot was faulty

Did the whole "MSCONFIG" thingy where I unchecked the max memory

Did the reverse of turning it on

Tried changing voltage on ram to 1.5v

The one time I had this issue years ago, it was because I'd accidentally limited ram use in Advanced Boot Settings.

Just did this, and with one stick I'm not getting post, so sorry this was such a basic troubleshoot step should've remembered :(

I'll send it off to be replaced, Thank you for the answer!! :)
