I currently have / installed Ubuntu onto my old laptop, dual Core, 2GB ram, etc. The main problem I've run into is the fact that Twitch will not work with the inbuilt flash for Chrome, it crashes the moment I load any stream. Can anyone help?

Try re-installing Chrome. If that doesn't work then open terminal and type "sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer" and see if that helps, if still nothing use FireFox after installing flash and see if it works.

  1. Is the browser chrome or chromium

Yeah, you should install Flash-plugin from the PPA or apt-get it. even if its built into Chrome the downloaded plugin will be more current. Personally i use Midori, .

Managed to use 2 chargers to charge the laptop as I fried the other charger out of the blue, I have now installed Flash through the terminal and I'm now using Firefox, twitch works perfectly so thanks for the help.
