I have been thinkingking of utilising my gtx 1060 to mine some cryptocurrency through nicehash when it's not in use. How Will it affect my gpus lifespan if I run it at 90% voltage and at around 65°c for about 12 hours a day.?

it works.. won't do any long term damage but..

 

consider going outside and picking up quarters. You'll get more money, you can have chat with friend, explore places, be more fit...

i am mining 2 gtx 1060 6gb's on nicehash currently and those cards both earn me about $3 a day (24 hours). If you let your card run around 65°c you should not have any performence degredation any time soon.

Why not both?

you would probably be making less than a dollar a day. (because you're only mining 12 hours a day) 

may as well just play some games and have fun.

Very rough calc using ethereum (as that's what I'm most familiar with right now) does suggest a single card would have ball park $2 profit a day (depends on power costs), so running 12h/day obviously halves that for $1/day. Might not sound like a lot, but call it $365/year sound any better?

yeah, ran that through my head. still, where i live i could work at the local cafe and earn that in 4 days. 

 

also we don't know where crypto will be in a year

Why not do both? As many others have said, the nice thing about mining is it is mostly set and forget. It just does it in the background while you can do other things.

Yup, that's anyone's guess. It may have crashed into nothingness, or made every miner rich beyond wildest dreams. I certainly wouldn't bet my house on it, but why not play a little on the side?
