No Audio Input

I've been trying to use my headset, which works in other devices, in my PC. However, I can get any audio input from it, only output. I've connected it through different jacks and Realtek configuration, both before and after updating the driver from the motherboard manufacturer website. Any advice?

when you say input, do you mean your mic?

If so

check the windows playback devices utility

maybe the recording device for the card is disabled.

I had this happen to me in the past, was a little mad I didn't check there before going through a whole mess of time wasting steps.

I mean because my headphone has one single cable for both input and output. I was looking around and could it be I need a cable splitter for that?

Oh ya most likely that is the problem.

Those types of headphones usually have a different pin out on the connector that plugs in.

Some laptops have a jack that supports both.

But I haven't seen too many desktops with this option.

I sort of assumed it was plugged in via two jacks.

That explains it. I've only tested it on laptops and console controllers. Thanks.
