I've been playing around with Big-Picture on my 50-inch Tv with its makeshift 240hz. Works good, I like it.

What I do not like is the delay..... Is this delay because of my setup? I can clearly see the delay when I have my monitor on at same time as tv. Its enough to cost me ALOT in competitive gaming. Is this something that will be different with steam-OS?

My tv is connected thru hdmi. I can hook up my monitor to hdmi and do not experience this delay.

I had big plans for Steam-OS. But this is a HUGE deal to me.... If its just always going to be a delay, then I will only use Steam-OS for casual gaming and call it Wii-Us big brother.... Thats what a wii-u is to me, a casual gaming console. I hope not....

My Tv is a "VIZIO - M-Series - 50" Class (49-1/2" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - 240Hz - Smart - 3D - HDTV"

Would like to hear if other people have this problem, possible work arounds or if its my Tv. Which I do not see many better ones far as Tv's for the size, minus 4k.

Televisions are never too great for gaming, although that is a good TV you probably suffer a fair bit from laggy latency things. I personally haven't experienced any sort of delay through my SteamOS setup, but I don't have more than one monitor

I am good at computer

Turn of 240hz, your computer is only feeding 60hz to the TV the 240hz is from interpolation which is hugely laggy just like ajoy39 suggests.

I'll give that a shot. Wonder if I even have that option.

But yes the delay is not noticeable unless I view it on my monitor at same time. Otherwise I would be hard pressed to know it. But the gamer inside me, will blame this for many things, since I now know it.

Id love for someone else with a Tv and monitor to see if they have slight delay, with a different hardware than mine. Maybe people just havent bothered to test this. I sure would not have, had my monitor not been displaying same image.

What you need to be looking for is a "Game Mode." HDTV's do all sorts of processing on the incoming image, including the interpolation. The 240hz is all internally done, no TV accepts an actual 240hz signal. Modern TV's have a "Game Mode" setting that bypasses all the processing done on the image. Check out your manual.

Assuming THIS is your TV, page 21 of the manual says to press Menu > Picture > Picture Mode > Use Left/Right arrows to select game mode.

"Game mode reduces throughput delays and optimizes the picture settings for displaying game console output."

Thanks buddy. Going to give it a shot once I get home from work. You all have been very friendly and helpful, thanks. For this was aggravating me about my new equipment. I'll post update once I compare. For anybody else that might have this problem.
