Problems with laptop battery

Hello!

 

My friend just bought a laptop and when he plugs in his battery it says 98% (plugged in, not charging). It does not charge to 100%. Is it normal for a new laptop?

It may be a "battery saver" thing where the laptop won't let it charge until the battery self discharges to a certain percentage. My laptop does the same thing. Though if I let it charge while it's off or sleeping, it usually gets to 100%.

 

Either way, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
