I recently upgraded to an EVGA 450 B3 modular Power supply, no more ketchup and mustard cables for me, and have noticed that at random times when the system is at idol load or streaming it appears to be giving off coil wine. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before. I haven't noticed the coil wine at all while gaming or running benchmarks on the system so it has me scratching my head as too what could be causing it.

Coil whine can just happen at any power level -- not just at load. Although, if you bought it recently and can return it, it might not be a bad idea. The unless I'm mistaken, there is a lot of concern with the B3 series not having good protections.

It took me a while to diagnose it as coil wine, it ins't very loud and for the longest time I thought I hadn't tightened down a screw in my rig and that was causing a vibration somewhere in the case because of it tone. The return window closed right after I had finally tracked it down, looks like I'll have to pray to the PC gods it last until I can afford a higher quality power supply
