I have two Pentium 4 machines with ~1gb ram in each machine and their own GPUs 420mx and 440mx respectively. I was wondering if I could get any more use out of these old timers before having to retire them. Both of them do have sata drives in them so like throughput is great in winxp

Throw in an older GPU and do some retro gaming. Some more memory couldn't hurt either, you could probably use the RAM from the other machine to get that.

They could pull basic fileserver duty..  Retro gaming.  Keeping them as museum pieces if they're nice enough (another 10 years, they'll be worth MSRP again (or close).

I'm a retro computing nerd, and you'd be surprised how much late 90's vintage 'big box store' machines in good condition are worth now lol.

I got them both from a school and I couldn't believe the HDD was still in there let alone bootable. I threw in some creative sb live sound cards and it's amazing to play dos games on especially considering I use them on a display that we got when a theme part had shut down and everything had to go. Granted that 1600x1200 makes text super small and annoying hard to read when you can see just how gigantic the actual pixels are. Hooking them up to a 1600x900 monitor and for some reason it's like whole new experience using winxp on a wide screen monitor. Could I use one as a network windows installer machine? I have serva that runs on my main rig and I just figured I could offload it to another machine even though I would have to up the drive space lmao. I have 38gb of installs on there

Also I have several windows 98 machines. One in particular loaded with a Yamaha sound card and an ATI rage 128 pro gpu. I actually love p3 machines. Honestly I have a collection of working old machines. Just never really powered them on and installed a fresh install of the os. The only issues with them is bad psu lol

You can see my 'retro collection' in my signature.  I love collecting vintage iron.  I'm still needing a 286 laptop, 386 laptop, and a 486 desktop to finish my "PC Generations" collection.

I had actually came across a cyrix could not to long back, I'm still in the process of moving everything and I hope I can still get that piece of history. Even if it's before my time lol

I have a Cyrix MII (I think 300 or 333mhz) laying around somewhere.. It's not being used.  Send me a PM with an offer if you are interested :)   I replaced it with a K6-2 475 a few months back.

I don't have a board honestly lol, I had just the CPU, I'll see if I can go back to my Twitter and dig up a picture of the one I have. I wish I did though and an old voodoo graphics card just to say I've accomplished the ultimate goal of computing. I may only be twenty but theres just something great about older computers and parts lol.
