So I own a Logitech MX ergo and suddenly it began stuttering, making it almost useless to use. So, thinking something just might've broken within it I ordered another sort of ball mouse off of amazon- the Elecom huge.

However, I was playing some overwatch and midmatch it began the same hitching and odd jumping that the MX ergo did. Please note that in both cases I was able to grab my Razer DeathAdder that was sitting next to me and finish the matches with no hiccups.

Does anyone have an idea what might be going on? ( could it be an overlay or a program on my pc that the trackball mice don't like?)

Do you regularly clean the optical tracker under the ball?

How close in timeframe were these two "glitches" occurring?  Was it close to immediate with the 2nd trackball, or after a few weeks/months?

Were the units fully charged?  Were the dongles close to another USB device in the motherboard?

My logitech wireless mouse goes nuts when I plug in a USB 3.0 flash drive right next to its dongle.

I feel really stupid now. For some reason I had a brain fart and didn't think to try another usb. My old mouse (logitech mx ergo) seems to be working fine now, at least it has for the past two or three overwatch games. So maybe i've got a bad front usb port?

Nevermind, the issue has arisen again. I've no idea what it could be. They couldn't both be defective.

I got a Q-tip and cleaned the sensor as well as around the small rollers on the MX ergo and the issue still persists. Now its at least usable, I've plugged it into a usb extension and its sitting on my desk, but it still has small hiccups that occur every 15 seconds or so.

However if I plug it in 2 ports lower, next to my keyboard and ethernet cable the mouse is LEGITIMATELY unusable. The stuttering is unbearably bad.

Could it be a bad driver installation of whichever one controls usb devices?

Tried reinstalling the logitech mouse driver from device manager- didn't improve the problem.

EDIT: Sorry @zombienerd I just realized I never answered your questions. The ergo is more than halfway charged, the huge is brand new out of the box- so fully charged.

The issues occured in the same day. I tried the huge- found the issue I had with the ergo was there on this new mouse as well. Switched over to the mx ergo, found the issue still there. My wired razer deathadder however, works fine.

I'm leaning towards some kind of signal interference in my mind.  I doubt it's a hardware or software failure being that it's both units exhibiting the same issue, while a wired mouse is not.

Does your PC have bluetooth?  Could you try the MX in bluetooth mode?  If it works that way,  you might just find you have an errant 2.4ghz signal somewhere in your vicinity that is causing the interference.  Unfortunately, there's not always a way to overcome that.
