Would the CPU be fried

So about 4 days ago my which I believe is my motherboard. I was playing a game when suddenly my computer shut down and will not turn on no lights nothing. I recently went to my friend's house and we swapped parts out to test if the power supply is good. The only thing we didn't swap out was the CPU since he didn't have a thermal compound. Is it possible the CPU to cause this and not the motherboard? The process is an intel i7 6700k and the motherboard is a MSI B150 gaming m3 board

Exactly what happens when you turn it on?

 

It sounds more like a board problem just going by your original post, but if you can give us more details that would be nice :)

It's infinitely more likely to be the motherboard.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

nothing happens what so ever when i try and turn it on. literally nothing at all.
