What to do when you are changing from AMD to NVIDIA and viceversa?

Hey folks,

i want to ask all of you, what to do when you have AMD graphic card and you going to change to a NVIDIA card and viceversa, what are the steps, to don't mess up things?.

installing new drivers

Uninstall the drivers by uninstalling from the control panel, then run Guru3Ds driver sweeper twice, restarts inbetween, install new GPU, log into windows (It'll be screwy until you get drivers) download the latest from Nvidia or AMD install, good to go.

uninstall all drivers, and clear the Driver files with Driver Sweeper, install the ddrivers from the other company, install new Video card -> done

Uninstall drivers, install new ones.

Uninstall current drivers, swap cards, install new drivers.

You could just keep the current drivers on and just get the new ones and install them...it won't destroy your PC.

perhaps wng but problems in the past have been traced back to such things. you should atleast be removing the old drivers even when installing new drivers of the same manufacture.

AMD to Nvidia:

ste 1: rip out your AMD GPU out of your rig and toss it away

step 2: mount your new shiny Nvidia GPU

step 3: install drivers

step 4: become Nvidia fanboy

 

Nvidia to AMD

step 1: rip out your Nvidia GPU out of your rig and toss it away

step 2: mount your new shiny AMD GPU

step 3: install drivers

step 4: become AMD fanboy

 

Nvidia to AMD(R9 290/290X) instructions:

step 1:rip out your Nvidia GPU out of your rig and toss it away

step 2: mount your new r9 290/r9 290x

step 3: realize its really hot

step 4: buy fire extinguisher

step 5: become AMD fanboy

For the first swap - 

 

Swap cards -> Install drivers for the new card.

 

After that just swap cards and don't do anything with drivers. 

The only thing those driver sweepers do is cause problems.
