So I had a a GTX 660 with 2 monitors, One using HDMI and the other using VGA with an adapter to DVI - I and it kinda worked, the second monitor had a box floating around it saying "input not supported" but it never bothered me as it was only a second monitor used for Spotify or teamspeak. I have since upgraded my GPU to a GTX 1060 that has a DVI-D as opposed to a I, this meant that my adapter doesn't work at all with this GPU. So now that that adapter is useless I'm trying to see what adapter I should get now?

Should I go with VGA-DVI-D?

Or should I go with a VGA - displayport?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rankie-Plated-DisplayPort-Adapter-Converter-Black/dp/B00Z08TZNU/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1514507203&sr=1-5&keywords=vga+to+displayport

Unfortunately my monitor only has VGA as it is a few years old. All help is greatly appreciated, thank you :D

Use the DisplayPort to VGA adapter.

itll be a vga output from my monitor and a displayport input into my gpu, so itll be ok?

Your terminology is backwards, but yes that will be ok.

The computer generates the information and sends it to the monitor, not the other way around. The images come out of the GPU output port and are sent into the monitor input port.

Hi, I'm in the same situation, old VGA monitor with a GTX 1060, I've used a DisplayPort to VGA adapter. I want to ask you if you encountered any problems? I have and am looking for a solution.

No I’ve been using it for just over a week now and have had no problems except for the adapter barely fit into the port because of my case
