Getting no signal from my HDMI port. Did I break something?

Charkley

I foolishly plugged in my laptop's HDMI out into my main rig's HDMI out (GPU). Now I get no signal when I plug anything into my main rig through HDMI (GPU). I've tried 2 different monitors and a VR headset. EDIT: And other HDMI cables. Nothing.

I've only used the DisplayPort and DVI port before that, so I can't tell if I broke something... Please help.

Thanks.

Have you tried a different cable?

I don't think this could break a video card so maybe just disconnect your PC from the wall and reseat the video card and see if that helps.

Also, does your PC post? Are the fans spinning or does it restart after a while?

PC works completely fine. The DisplayPort and DVI port are working on my two monitors. It's just the HDMI that doesn't have signal for some reason. :(

So, none of the HDMI ports work? Assuming you have multiple on there.

It's just one on the Gigabyte G1 1080.

Well, it probably got fried. Though, I had no idea that something like this could kill a port.

I would guess that if the port is broken, then it was broken before this event.
I have never heard of, or even suspect this would fry a port.

You could try reinstalling the GPU drivers and see if that helps.

It's not a race to the bottom.

I've tried that, too, unfortunately. Will see if the same thing happens on a different rig when I have the chance to test it. Thanks for the help, everyone.
