Migrate system keeping HDD

Currently I have my OS (W7) in my SSD, and the documents and games are  in my HDD.

Is there any problem if I just unplug the HDD, install W10 on the SSD and plug it again (HDD)?

Will the files be like if it was W7 or I will have troubles to see them?

I know some games will have some troubles due to the registry. But will the music, docs and photos be affected?

 

I will not format or do anything to the Hdd, just format and clean install on the SSD.

just in case have a back up of your os win 7...

 

but i think you should do fine if you were to upgrade to win 10 b/c the os is on another drive which will be changed not your data/ mass storage, i believe

 

just make sure you turn your pc off before unplugging stuff!

There is 2 ways around this.

 

Programs like installed games might fail to work and result in the need for a reinstall, files like movies music images documents and so on will work flawlessly after your brand new Win 10 recognizes the HDD again.

 

Worse case scenario you'll need to give the HDD a letter again.

Just click install through steam as if your redownloading it. As long as you set the install directory to the same one the files are already in it will just check to make sure their all there and you're good to go
