is there a way to set a key such as home or end to not have further functions other than being a key with a key or a key combo that is not used otherwise to use for macros?

What you are looking for is a Macro software.

If you have a normal membrane keyboard then you will have to find one online but, if you have a mechanic keyboard then, it probably has a built-in way to do make macros.
