Hey guys!

Literally JUST built my first computer and I got in to the bios to check everything..

Saw that my RAM (corsair vengeance lpx 2666mhz) wasn't displayed as advertised but instead as 2133mhz..? I selected the D.O.C.P. 4 setting in the Ai overclock tuner which described the optimal system settings for 2666mhz memory.. Shouldn't there be like a X.M.P mode or something? Should I just go with the D.O.C.P. 4 setting?

I'm running this system:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600X

GPU: Asus rog 1070ti advanced

RAM: Corsair vengeance lpx 2666mhz

CPU cooler: Corsair h115i

Mobo: Asus rog x370-f

SSD: Samsung 850 evo 250gb

HDD: WD blue 1tb

PSU: Evga supernova g2 750w

Thx for the help!

XMP is an intel thing. DOCP is an AMD thing. both are pretty much the same.

well if you want the memory to overclock the easiest way possible, use it. It's nothing more than manufacture specified settings to achieve rated speeds that the BIOS uses to set RAM timings and clock.

might work, might not. Ryzen is a little weird when i comes to memory multipliers, so you may not get 2666, you might end up with 2666 timings at 2400 MHz.

I really just want the memory to run at the advertised speed..

So Docp?

sure, go for it... but again BECAUSE Ryzen's Memory controller can be a bit weird with clock speeds, don't be surprised if it doesn't POST at 2666. I'm running 3466MHz memory (advertised) but it will only post at 3200 MHz because Ryzen doesn't have a multiplier that does 3466MHz.

Idk why but my x370 gaming plus has xmp profiles in the bios

CPU: Ryzen 1700@3.9ghz; GPU: EVGA 560 Ti 1gb; RAM: 16gb 2x8 Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000; PCPP: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/b3xzzM

because they are essentially the same, they are just called different things by the two major CPU vendors. XMP is a lot more well known to those coming from Intel to AMD than DOCP so it's no surprise they'd call the profile XMP so that you'd recognize it for what it is.
