I'm looking at buying a macbook for school etc, and I'm debating whether I will buy the Air 13" with 8gb ram and 256gb storage, or the Pro 13" with 128gb storage and 4gb memory, but with a better processor. I'm primarily going to be using it for taking notes, a little bit of non-intensive photoshop and video editing and garageband. I just think that the 128gbs will be a bit small, and as the 4gbs ram is soldered on it would be a pain to upgrade in future. Thoughts? Thanks :)

I would go for the Mac Air if I was you, doesn't seem like you need too much horsepower and the small form factor will help since you're in school. It will more than suffice for tasks like taking notes and a little video editing here and there.

I'm assuming you're taking about the Macbook Pro 13' and not the Retina Macbook Pro, correct? Cause the normal mac pro has a mechanical drive, unlike the flash storage in the Air. IMO mechanical drives are the past, at least in laptops, having flash or SSD storage makes a massive difference in boot times and application load times.

So to sum it up, go for the Macbook Air.

Get what linus uses during the wan show then put hackintosh on it (not sure exactly why laptop it was but I know he loves it).

Why don't u buy a hackintosh laptop? And with the rest of the money build a desktop :P

I don't want to get into that sort of stuff, I've seen people who need to buy new wifi cards or little things like that to make it work, and i don't want to do that.

I'd say the Air. I'm going to be doing professional Photoshop work etc. next year so I'm going to get the rPro because of the IPS screen and the extra res. Also in NZ I can get the same storage size and amount of ram in the rPro as the Air for not much more $$$.

Where can you get that? I'm in NZ as well.
