I'm looking into getting a BD player for my desktop, either internal or USB but wasn't sure what to go with. I'm really picky about say it possibly having video/audio sync issues or not being fast enough to read all the data coming from the disc. So what have people's experience been with yours? Could you recommend one?  It doesn't have to be 4K. Thanks.

i just got *literally* whatever the hardware store gave me when i said "a bluray burner"

last time i used it was to copy a bluray to an .mkv, and it managed to convert twice as fast as watching the movie takes.

As for which drive, Filter New egg by most reviews and then pick the once with decent reviews. Honestly you should be able to get a good one from any of the major brands and be fine. As for play back software, I've used DVDFabs media player. Cyberlink also has some that has good reviews. With all of this said, you will get a better play back experience form a stand alone box if you don't absolutely need to run it all through your PC. I finaly broke down and got a bluray player when neither my roommate or GF at the time were able to figure out how to easily play a movie without me.

If your going for internal LG drives have been very reliable for me.

I have a cue light I can use to show you when I’m joking, if you like.
