New motherboard m

So I am thinking of changing my motherboard to an ASUS Z370 ATX gaming motherboard because I want to start overclocking when I get the CPU. But I was wondering when you first install the motherboard and you turn it on, is there anything I need to change on my SSD or anything software related. And is it ok if I put my CPU that I use now installed on the motherboard instead of the 7700k which I am going to save up for? Thank you

You might be able to change the motherboard and keep Windows, but you may need to reinstall it.

You can't use either. Z370 is fundamentally incompatible with any Skylake or Kaby Lake parts. You have to get either an 8700, 8700k, or 8600k to actually have a worthwhile upgrade.

The correct socket. And make sure its a 200 series motherboard.
