I'm trying to pick between the to for my next build there getting paired with avexir 1600 8g ram and r9-280x

On a gigabyte board not sure witch one yet ( 990 ud3 or 970a d3p) I already have an open loop water cooling system the main focus of this build will be for gaming and over clocking.

the 990 if you want SLI/CrossFire, the 970 if you dont

Buy the 990FX-UD3 if you are going to be overclocking

Says the one with a 970 board and with your CPU at 5 jegahertz

Because my board has an 8+2 power phase, unlike every single other 970 board. It's not the chipset that limits overclocking, it's the vrm design.
