I would agree with 91wow.

With present tech, at this very moment, a more powerful single GPU is generally better than multi-GPU. Well, it depends what you value more. There are issues right now with multi-GPU that haven't been fully fixed, like microstutter and tearing. Better drivers, potentially G-sync (still no news yet on that), or just running with super-high frames, and you won't notice many of these things.

But, personally, I like high-res, high textures, and fluid frames. A single (very powerful) GPU will get that at 1080p.

And, what OS and programs do you plan on using? 120GB SSD, I'm assuming, will be used for the OS, editing software, and games on 120GB will be tight.

Corsair Obsidian 250D | be quiet! Dark Power Pro 10 550W | Asus Maximus VI Impact | Intel i7-4770k | Corsair h100i (with Noctua NF-F12) | G.Skill RipjawsX 2x8GB | Samsung 840 Evo 250GB | WD Black 1TB | eVGA GTX Titan Black (+ ACX cooler)

Get a single GPU, like the Nvidia Geforce GTX 780 ti or a single Titan, much better card than those 2 gpus and better perfomance. I know it is kewl having 2 graphics, but I learned the hard way, by using two lower quality gpucs instead of 1. I been there done that.

Spoiler

This is a present so he specified Intel and Nvidia

I dont know why they don't like AMD

We'll amd is far superior than most nvidia cards. These are the best bang for your buck cards.

Especially the new 290(aftermarket). $200 less than the newest 780ti(nvidia) which is head to head

And Intel cores are more expensive than any amd core. But since Intel beats amd in video edititing and mother board compatibility I choose intel.

What type of videos does your friend do montages or full on video? By full on I mean chatting playing full round etc.

If he does montages use shadow play on your nvidia card

I suggest a Seasonic 80+ Platinum power supply, http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-platinum860.

Don't partition the ssd, use it as the system drive. It's a more robust configuration. You can get a Seagate Hybrid drive, Seagate ST1000DX001, if you are concerned with hard drive load times.

Sony Vegas Pro 12 is a popular video editing suite.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
