Fixing Kindle Fire

Greetings everyone,

 

I recently came across a broken Amazon Kindle Fire and want to fix it up for Christmas. It will not turn on from pressing down the power button, and it does nothing when I plug in a charger. I have seen multiple videos concerning this issue and many have proven that the usb port easily disconnects and creates an open circuit so that no power can get through. However, all of the videos I found were of usb ports that were physically disconnected from the pcb, while mine is still (somewhat) firmly in place. To either confirm or deny the port's operational state, I want to send power directly to the board. Which of the usb port's 5 pads on the pcb, and polarity, do I need to solder wires to in order to bypass the port, and what specific voltage and current?

why don't you just plug in the usb charger and go for the pcb soldering points form the usb socket with a multimeter? no need to solder just measure if something is coming through.
