Minimum SSD size

Matthew Y

Hi I'm putting together a budget pc build and looking to put my OS in an SSD for faster boot time.

Whats the minimum i need for a Windows 10 pro 64bit system? Will a 60gb one do? or at least 128 or 256gb.

Thanks in advance for advice 9_9

128 will usually be enough for most people.  60 is really pushing it.

Win 10 + Steam (put library on HDD, not SSD) + Office + Productivity software (Browsers, Photoshop, Premiere, etc), and I had used ~50 gigs of my 128 SSD.

You could get away with a 64gb drive if you installed only Windows and a few smaller programs.

60gb would technically be enough for the OS and about 20gb worth of programs, but 120gb SSDs are usually about the same price as a 60gb variant. So you really shouldn't get less than 120gb.

If your ONLY storing windows 10 on the 60GB SSD, then there will be enough space to do so.
