Thin and light laptop upgrade

Hi guys, I'm currently using a white unibody MacBook mid-2010, so I kinda need to upgrade. I'm looking for a thin and light 15-inch laptop with enough power to compile stuff and run machine learning, and also play a few games. I also prefer having a HiDPI display, after seeing the retina MacBook pro. The Dell XPS 15 9560 seemed absolutely perfect for my needs, but the quality control issues and bad thermal paste-job turned me off. The Aero 15 also seems awesome, but no HiDPI. Are there any other alternatives to these with good quality control and which check all boxes? I'm ready to wait for stuff revealed in CES 2018 if anything interesting comes up.

 

P.S. Linux compatibility is important, most of my development stuff is Unix-based.

P.P.S. Availability of service centers in India is also important.
