Sorry for any reading inconveniences. I am only using mobile.

Budget& Location : CDN: $500-1000. Toronto, Ontario. I wish to continue to use my CM 690 II Advanced (USB 3), Silent Pro M2 850W, Windows 7, and the 4gb RAM sticks if they are compatible.

Aim: I wish for a computer that can mine ethereum and game effectively. I have no idea about mining but it is something that I want to tinker with. For gaming, I am torn between 1060 6gb vs RX 580 8gb. I believe the former offers overall better performance and better fps/wattage, but the latter gives you free sync capabilities and better mining. Witcher 3 maxxed out and 60hz minimum would be huge plus! 4k videos ready would be cool too!

Monitors: I have 1 monitor right now. Check Speccy link @ bottom.

Peripherals: May need to replace current monitor... reluctantly.

Why are you upgrading: Nearly 8 years old computer from 2009- 2010 finally starting to die. My GPU doesn't load windows now. I can't even access Internet via safe mode network. I am not sure if I should do a complete new build or just replace the GPU. Two people mentioned RX 580 8G, so now I have to know what brand best to get without stepping into GTX 1070 price range. Speccy: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/BMsnyzjomctcKtiMhGsmW7k

Can anyone help? Thanks!

What is the best way to get rid of the old parts?

I recomend nabbing something like this guy for 250 cad/200 usd and then throw the rest of your budget at the best gpu possible.

I have no idea what this guy's title means other than the ddr3 for the rams. I will need to get something very soon so I don't know if I should scout the classified for something used.

It's two 6c/12t xeons, a nice mobo and some ddr3. Pretty solid combo for the price

Whatever this guy wrote is definitely not beginner friendly. I recognize Mac Pro (I wish to stick with Windows). I think 2.66Gjz Qiad cpre Xeons is the CPU. 32GB of FB ECC DDR2 is the RAM? Lion is the Hard drive's brand? Since I'm switching from a nearly 8 year broke computer, I'm looking into just get a good computer that will last me some more. I've compiled a list here and made some purchases, but the motherboard and ram seems to give me the greatest headache. The parts and purchases with tax included is here if you're interested: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/xqXZkT

RAM: I was told that Ryzen takes great advantage from having high RAM speed so 3000+ MHz is optimal. However, a few others told me don't bother buying anything below 3200 MHz. Is that true? Is there no middle ground between 2133 MHz to 3200 MHz? Furthermore, what is the difference of having 16 Gb with multiple ram sticks? Is 2X8, 1X16, or 4X4 the same thing? I found a 4X4 for a cheaper price, but will it give me the same performance?

Motherboard: I use the partpicker site and other people's advice for choosing this but I keep landing myself with so many choices to pick from. I was told AMD B350 for the chipset, but what is wrong with A320 or X370? Are MSI or Asrock motherboards known to be reliable? Should I just pick the cheapest of these https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/#c=124&sort=price&page=1 ? The brand's product comparison page only helped with stuff like DIMM slots (I think that's how many slots can be used for RAM sticks), but once it mentioned PCI, Raid, M.2Slot...I just lost it. How do I even know what I need from a motherboard?

@komputeridiat for motherboard I absolutely recommend the x370 prime pro, avoid msi like the plague for ryzen motherboards.

The prime pro has good overclocking features and a full suite of other features to choose from.

Get a 2x8gb running between 2800-3200mhz. If you get 4x4 you can't upgrade easily in the future, if you get 2x8 now you can get another 2x8 in the future

Why? I just ordered the MSI B350M gaming pro should I cancel it on Amazon? There must be a reason that everyone on reddit has recommended the Asrocks and MSIs for me.

Do I really need them? I'm only using the computer for work (MS Office), Gaming, and tinkering with crypto mining. Should I really spend the extra money on the Asus Prime Pro? When I narrowed the categories down to B350 for the AMD platform, the ASUS only gave me 5 boards and none of them featured a Prime Pro: 4 of them compared: https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Product-Compare/?products=0xooMGJxmZMJKE77,56eUBZiyCwpkrxRK,dzJJ92ME4fwhw4pV,livO8mCMqNxWCYms&b=0

Well I picked the Team Delta due to a sale I found on Canada Computers. Are they a good brand. I was getting mixed messages.
