I'm trying to upgrade a windows 7 laptop to windows 10. It is still free until December 31. The problem that I'm encountering is when it is almost done I get an error code of 0xc1900208. I have tried many times of restarting the system and trying again but nothing. Anyone know what is the problem?

I think you might need to read this https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/how-can-i-fix-windows-update-error-cumulative/c4372ddc-224c-46dd-856c-53b128b26a6b?auth=1

Best thing you could do would be a clean, fresh install of Win10.  Just make sure that you have your Windows Key available during the process.

This is currently on windows 7 and i'm upgrading to windows 10

I did a clean, fresh install of Win10 from Win7 just last night on an Acer laptop.  As long as you have your key, you're good to go.  From what I understand, should be able to go from Win7 to Win10 using the Win7 key until the last day of the year.

Yes that is correct, the probably that i was encountering was the download was not finishing and i was getting an error code. Started to delete some 3rd party applications that might solve the issue. Also hopefully they will accept my windows 7 key.

If you do a clean, fresh install you can nuke the drive be deleting all the partitions on it.  After deleting them, recreate them and then format them using NTFS.  From there should be an easy process.  Don't forget to use the 64 bit version of Windows.

I would do that but i do have some stuff in the drive that i want to keep. So deleting all partition would not be a good idea for me and also i don't have another storage device to move all of my files to. So right now i'm hoping this downloading will finish through after deleting some 3rd party applications. It currently at 45%

During the install process it will give you the option to do a regular install or a custom install.  Basically a custom install will allow you to check whether or not you want to get rid of everything or select some folders like documents and pictures, etc., to keep.  Just make sure that you make the correct selection there at that point.  You will be able to keep your important stuff then.  Don't nuke the drive, but just check which option allows you to keep your stuff.
